Lacing
What is it?
When the head of a beer has got really good retention characteristics it will stick to the sides of the glass. As the beer is consumed the head coats the glass the entire way down the glass. This pattern of foam adhering to the glass is often referred to as lacing.

There is nothing better than seeing one of your own brews with really good lacing as you drink it. MMMMMMM.....This is making me wish my coffee cup was filled with beer.......
