A widget is a device placed in a container of beer to manage the characteristics of the beer's head. The original widget was patented in Ireland by Guinness.

I was just looking at the brewing terms and realized that no new brewing terms had been added for awhile so I thought I would chime in with one since thirsty has been working on his nitro system for his stout......the widget is what has the nitro gas in it......as far as how it works, this will probably explains it better than me.......
