Wort




Wort is unfermented beer.

Once you have finished the first part of brewing (steeping your grains, boiling any hops, etc) you have created wort.

This is the liquid extract from the ground malt and grain soaked in hot water.



 

Is that like "must" in mead brewing? The mix of honey, water, and flavorings that you simmer for awhile?

(Or have I got that totally wrong?)

 

Yep - it is very much the same thing.

Do you have much experience with brewing cider?  I really want to try it - I might like it more than beer. smile

 

Pronounced "Wirt" (rhymes with "dirt") to sound like you know what you are talking about!



 

I'm glad you made that clarification - I've been pronouncing like that horrible skin thing that you can get...
