Caramel Vanilla Wine?

So, after snarfing down one of my last bottles of Strawberry wine from last spring, my friend's wife asked me if there was any such thing as caramel vanilla wine.

After my research (admittedly lackadasical... sounds gross to me) I have come to the determination that the answer is no.  But, before I tell her "No" I'd like a couple of opinions.

Is it possible?  Maybe a white grape base and flavor it with caramel (Im thinking something like icecream sauce....) and vanilla....

Any thoughts?

Hmm.. not a whole lot out there on caramel wine.  I did find something on a wine forum where someone was asking about using caramels in a wine and someone suggested rather than using the candies to use a combination of molasses and vanilla to try to achieve a caramel flavor.  I'm not sure about the molasses.  I've heard that molasses can leave a metallic flavor in beers and while I don't have a lot of experience with it I have tried a beer brewed with a decent amount of molasses and it did have a strong metallic flavor.

Oh yeah and the person who suggested the vanilla and molasses suggested making a mead instead of a wine.

Here's a recipe for making caramel. Maybe this might help with a recipe formulation?

Wish I could help more but I'm more of a beer guy than a wine guy.  I was bored and thought I'd do a little research for you.

Here we go...

I found a thread on Homebrewtalk you might want to check out.  A couple people post recipes and experiences with caramel mead and cider.
