Making a batch of Guarapo
Hi All of You !
I used some leftover pineapple rinds to experiment and make a batch of guarapo. My question for those who have made this: will the fermentation be obvious, like will I see bubbles similar to when making a more traditional wine or will it be more subtle? Just curious because I'm on day 2 and haven't noticed much activity.
Enjoy!

Hi darren,
Guarapo takes a couple to four days to show some bubbles, then the odor will call you and tell you to look under the kitchen towel. Behold: not just bubbles, but froth. Hang in there: unless the rinds had green mold on them and are going to spoil anyway, your guarapo will ferment. Delicious stuff on a hot evening... just don't get complacent, guarapo can ferment powerfully, sneaking up and getting you legless before you know it.
Thanks!
