Using the test paper

Hello All,

First question is K Meta the same as camp den tablets?
Second question I tried using the test paper for a PH read. Finding this hard to read in dark red wine,
I tried diluting in distilled water. But was only questing?
How about some of your tricks and a blow-by-blow description on your methods that works
85% of the time.

Thanks!!

Hi wesley,

I find the test papers are really hard to use with reds and I believe that blending in distilled water will change the pH of the wine. I finally went out and bought a pH meter. It was one of the best winemaking investments I have made!

What PH would you recommend for home winemaking?
Reply meter
Something like a MT608: Milwaukee Bench top pH Meter with an electrode that can be replaced
MT608a: Replacement Electrode for the MT608/609 --- both copied from Beer, Beer, and More
Beer website. There are many others but the price goes up dramatically. I have an Orion and the
replacement electrode is about $100. I have only replaced the electrode once in seven years.

Thank you shawn!!
