Wide range of ingredient prices from different websites
Hello all;
I'm still a relative novice when it comes to wine making, all of my efforts to date being with "all in one" kits such as the type made by Winexpert. But I have decided the time has come to "expand my horizons" and try to make a batch using fruit juice concentrate that might be more of a true homebrew. In comparing prices for different ingredients at different websites, I've become a bit confused in the wide differences in prices I see for the same items -- wondering if it reflects some difference in content or quality I'm just not seeing.
Some examples:
A 46 oz. can of juice: Retailer A -- $28.46; Retailer B -- $12.99
Bottle of 100 campden tablets: Retailer A --$5.75; Retailer B -- $2.75
Conditioner (sweetener): Retailer A -- $10.25; Retailer B -- $4.99
And on and on. Although there are some differences in shipping (retailer A does it for free if over $25.00), these price differences are scary to me. I find it remarkable that the same brand, same size of juice concentrate is less than half the price on B as A. Is there something I'm missing in making my comparisons?
Any advice or feedback on the best way to shop for ingredients very much appreciated; thanks.
Yep, that's the way it is. I found a 5# jar of honey @ Sam's Club for 9.72, the same thing at a LHBS for $24.99.
Ya gotta watch yourself out there.
Shop around brother, shop around......many people here will tell you the same thing. Some places offer free shipping, some have cheaper prices, but get you with their shipping.....I don't know myself who may have consistent cheaper prices, as I'm lucky enough to have 3 or 4 homebrew shops within 30 minutes of me......
That's why it's called shopping..........![]()
