wine making software?
Hey guys, is there software out there similar to beersmith for wine?
Anyone?
I have not seen a winemaking software. But when I decided to try my first wine I just searched the web for recipes and procedures. Came up with my own recipe and procedures and gave it a whirl.
I made a 3 gal batch and my SG was 1.10, and when I racked to secondary, (I think it was after 3-4 weeks can't remember here at work) it was down to approx 1.03. Tasted like vodka in simple syrup, but I am going for a sweet wine anyways. It will be racked 3 more times before putting into bottles.
promash will do it but you have to add the ingredients and stlye type in there get the eval here
http://www.promash.com/
but i dont know if you can change or add it in the trial version
it will do wine also?
i personally never used it for wine but i have for mead and im sure it would for wine
What sort of calculations are necessary for wine??? With beer you have IBUS, SRM, and gravity.
Grape juice is grape juice, some years the sugar is higher or lower than others, you ferment it as is don't you?
I am ignorant to wine making, but might start looking into it in 2008.
i originally asked the question for my wifes parents, they make their own wine and saw the software i use for beer and was wondering if there was anything out there like it for wine.
i guess you are right though, making wine seems much simpler than beer, wine makers out there correct us please if we are wrong.
Like I said I am ignorant to wine making currently, but as I understand it has a two step process.
1. buy "exocitc" grape juice
2. add yeast
Your part is done.
I know there is a sanitatiion step in there somewhere, but come on!
Actually you need to watch the gravity with wine also.
Most types of wine you have to add several pounds of sugar too because the fruit sugars alone aren't enough to get you where you want to go.
Plus you need to add yeast nutrient, pectic enzyme, tannins (for some) and campden tablets to keep the wild yeasts down.
This is a good starter page.
It's still pretty easy but does require a bit more than just tossing the yeast in... ![]()
i'v done some research and could not find any wine software ,but found wine sorting (bottletracking and stocking ) websites
for whatever reason . in promash you can add new styles new ingredients and all specks about them
(potential s.g. per gallon) and srm and do prediction as with beer . but i dont make wine and dont know if there are different steps than beer after it hits the primary besides time.
