I am considering dabbling in the wine making area. Anyone have experience with making small batches? MW has a 1 gallon starter kit on their website I would like to try. What is the average time to go from beginning to a ready to drink product? How much fruit would you need to do a 1 gallon batch? Blueberries are ready here now so that may be the fruit of choice to start with.
When I was looking around a few weeks ago I saw a page say that it's somewhere around 3lbs per gallon. I also read that it takes at least 6 months to a year to go from beginning to glass. I too am thinking about making a batch this summer. I might try some peaches out. Keep me posted if you try blueberries.
Peach orchard is right up the road....I may have to try that out.
